Janaya was born and raised in Yonkers, New York and moved with her family to South Carolina in the early 2000’s. Janaya is the mother of two boys, which she would say is one of her greatest accomplishments. She is extremely family oriented, loves to sing and enjoys learning new things. She is an ordained minister and enjoys working in and with various ministries.  

Janaya has a sincere and unique passion for serving seniors in every area. She has been working in the healthcare field for 18 years with a specific focus on senior care. She has past and present experience in disciplines including primary care, podiatry, spine medicine, home health, assisted living, memory care, independent living and a few others. Her passion for senior care started since she was 16 when she was given a job with a rural health clinic as a front desk receptionist. While there she was taken under the tutelage of the late Dr. David Hobbs and Nurse Practitioner Margaret Curtis, who sent her to MUSC hospital to become a licensed phlebotomist at the age of 17. Her passion and work ethic led her to become the lead assistant for this clinic that helped with direct patient care. She continued her education and obtained a bachelor’s degree in human services from the University of South Carolina. She has attended many seminars and classes in addition to working towards becoming a licensed administrator for senior retirement and continuum of care communities.

She also added to her intricate experience in the medical field roles such as clinical and medical assistant, director of sales, life enrichment director and hospice and home health account representative. She currently serves the Seabrook of Hilton Head as the Operations Manager. This senior retirement community’s dynamic culture reflects her stewardship and principles. Janaya is self-motivated and determined to continue to learn and grow in the world of continuum care retirement communities.
