Living On Hilton Head

Hilton Head Island is conveniently located an hour from the historic area of Savannah and two hours from scenic Charleston, Hilton Head offers a resort lifestyle in a subtropical climate.  The island has fertile salt marshes, massive live oaks and maritime forests. Whether you love the beach, golf, tennis, bike-riding, fishing or just relaxing, Hilton Head Island offers it all and is one of the most popular resorts on the East Coast.

The Island was named after Captain William Hilton who, in 1663, identified a headland near the entrance to Port Royal Sound, which he named "Hilton's Head" after himself.

Hilton Head was first developed in the late 1950’s but it wasn’t until Arnold Palmer won the inaugural Heritage Golf Classic in 1969 that most people were introduced to our beautiful island. Now Hilton Head is home to many full-time residents who invariably vacationed here more than once before making the Island their home.

Today, Hilton Head is well-known for its "eco-friendly" development with miles of bike paths connecting the Island's neighborhoods.  The locals just call it "Paradise".
